The Big Bird…view from the top

Whenever I ride a plane I make it sure I would be sitting near the window. I mean you could just ride for an hour, surely you wouldn't want to miss the view from the top, would you? I want to get close to the window so that I could take good pictures of beautiful scenes below. It’s like I have been to an exhibit, viewing the small replica of the metropolis. I could see the whole terrain. Everything is miniature. Houses and buildings are like matchboxes. I could see how tiny cars are, as well as the highways and streets. The deep blue sea is wide.

I remember my first ride was, when I traveled with my family to Thailand and Hongkong for summer vacation. I was so nervous, so bad that I wanted to arrive to our destination a.s.a.p. There’s a lot of pesky questions playing on my mind especially the “what if…???” I guess I was watching too much Aircraft Investigation Series on National Geographic Channel at those times that made me worried what if this plane I was on would crash? Even so, I enjoyed the food served by those lovely flight attendants and how they sweetly asked if I would like to have a chicken or fish for meals and for drinks, juice or tea, and I was so attentive (I have to) listening to the safety instructions they had demonstrated in case of emergency. And just to hear the voice of the one who would maneuver the plane, “This is your captain speaking…”, wow voice on modulation, it made me feel like I had nothing to worry about landing safe. After a while worry resumed, traveling on land in an hour is not a long journey for me but on plane it is, and I can’t get off whenever I wanted to. The big bird takes you up above the skies, now you can see the view from the top, and you’re thousand miles away from the earth you’re living. Amazing, isn't it? It’s a thrill. The adrenaline just feels great.

My one-nervous-first-time-ride was worthwhile after all.  My siblings and I always enjoy rating from 1 as lowest to 10 as highest, over pilot’s touchdown of the plane. Some have wobble touchdown, we rate them on 5, at least we'd landed safe, but some had smooth landing which is perfect 10 for me. Now, I’m enjoying every minute ride of that big bird. As it soars high, sunshine welcomes you over the clouds, till it lands taking you back to the earth. I know God is with me so I have nothing to worry, because I trust that He will protect me wherever I go. I miss the adventure. I can’t wait to ride that big bird again.
