worketh willingly with my hands...
Last night, my best friend and I were excited to watch a movie on the internet, due to slow connection, we had no choice but to cancel our plan. It was 10 in the evening and we thought it was too early for bedtime. So she asked me,"do you know how to crochet?". Then I replied, " well, I have started and tried it before but I never remember if I have finished a piece of work out of crochet or cross-stitch except for sewing." I mean seriously, am I too impatient or perfectionist? Maybe I am. And I easily get bored to continue working especially when I make mistakes. It's hard for me to go on, and whenever I do a project I want to finish it right away.
Sometimes you do things you haven't done in a while just to get rid of boredom. And that's what I did last night, as soon as my best friend handed over the hook and the yarn for crochet. Since she knew it better than I did, she taught me how to start over and made a pattern. So I followed and tried to be patient. We've decided to make a purse. So far, it's still in progress, we hope to finish it soon so we could make another one. I'm very optimistic this time to finish it. And for my next project, I want to know how to make this coin purse.

I hope to find metal coin purse frame to match my next crochet project. It would be great if I could find something like this.
As for my inspiration, let me quote a familiar passage from the Scripture about a virtuous woman.
...and worketh willingly with her hands.

...and so I'm back
Wow, it's been a year since I haven't posted anything here. A year of silence indeed. Time flies. Welcome 2013. I'll be turning 27 this year, yes, I was born in the 80's I know. Why does it seem burdensome to get older? I ask myself this question sometimes. And then come to realize how these added years would count as blessings. So instead of complaining, I learned to thank God for His unfailing grace over these years. I know someday I will be ageless, when I"ll be with Christ for eternity. And when that happens I will no longer worry about numbers.
I love this song from James C. Moore:
Never grow old, never grow old,
In a land where we’ll never grow old.

Let bygones be bygones
End of December days are the most reminiscing times of the year, I suppose, as we look back how we’ve gone so far this year 2011, before we’ll welcome and anticipate another new year. How fast time flies. Inevitably, looking back from the past events, thoughts may cross your mind such as, “Things in the past I should have obviated were things I remorse now.”…perhaps the dagger of time might console.
If haply you’ve seen the movie, The Prince of Persia – Sands of time, you probably know how the dagger of time works. It is an archaeological artifact which holds the sands of time from the hourglass, and it has the ability to reverse, control, and rewind time. The person, who holds and activates it, could travel back in the past in just few seconds, and only that person is aware of what happened. Big chance: rewound the worst past to have the best future. Easy! Rewinding time, see how consoling it is to have this magnificent artifact. I’m sure one would like to undo the wrong things done in the past. If and only if.
Now back to reality. Life is not a series of fiction movies made by imagination and fantasies. Yet at times when we couldn't take a humble acceptance of things which already took place, we opt to wish that if we could turn back the time and prevented the event where we had made our great mistakes, life would be different now.
You could not choose what events would store up in your memory, even the darkest past, and it’s out of your control. Nonetheless, we shouldn't let this divert our focus to move forward. Let bygones be bygones, but let it be a lesson that will make a better you, today. It does not guarantee you not to make wrong decisions and mistakes anymore, but by learning from the past you'll be able to weigh things in perspective and make better judgments now.
Get comfort and admonition from the word of God and not by dwelling on vain imaginations and fantasies to console regrets, “This should be my life, if only...” Erase them from your thoughts. It will not suffice your selfish complacency. Take complete acceptance of your past wrongs, even Christ forgave and washed your sins with his blood, the guilt has gone. Encumber your heavy load of regrets. As quoted by Elizabeth Elliot,”We need to ask for the grace of God to choose a realistic goal at the start, and have specific substitute thoughts to replace the unwanted ones.” Ask God to control your thoughts. Consider II Corinthians10:5, “Casting down imaginations…bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” Do you want to know the Lord’s thought toward you? The Scripture says in Jeremiah 29:11“For I know the thought that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an expected end.” If we trust his pure intentions toward us, true joy and peace will rest within us.

The Big Bird…view from the top
Whenever I ride a plane I make it sure I would be sitting near the window. I mean you could just ride for an hour, surely you wouldn't want to miss the view from the top, would you? I want to get close to the window so that I could take good pictures of beautiful scenes below. It’s like I have been to an exhibit, viewing the small replica of the metropolis. I could see the whole terrain. Everything is miniature. Houses and buildings are like matchboxes. I could see how tiny cars are, as well as the highways and streets. The deep blue sea is wide.
I remember my first ride was, when I traveled with my family to Thailand and Hongkong for summer vacation. I was so nervous, so bad that I wanted to arrive to our destination a.s.a.p. There’s a lot of pesky questions playing on my mind especially the “what if…???” I guess I was watching too much Aircraft Investigation Series on National Geographic Channel at those times that made me worried what if this plane I was on would crash? Even so, I enjoyed the food served by those lovely flight attendants and how they sweetly asked if I would like to have a chicken or fish for meals and for drinks, juice or tea, and I was so attentive (I have to) listening to the safety instructions they had demonstrated in case of emergency. And just to hear the voice of the one who would maneuver the plane, “This is your captain speaking…”, wow voice on modulation, it made me feel like I had nothing to worry about landing safe. After a while worry resumed, traveling on land in an hour is not a long journey for me but on plane it is, and I can’t get off whenever I wanted to. The big bird takes you up above the skies, now you can see the view from the top, and you’re thousand miles away from the earth you’re living. Amazing, isn't it? It’s a thrill. The adrenaline just feels great.
My one-nervous-first-time-ride was worthwhile after all. My siblings and I always enjoy rating from 1 as lowest to 10 as highest, over pilot’s touchdown of the plane. Some have wobble touchdown, we rate them on 5, at least we'd landed safe, but some had smooth landing which is perfect 10 for me. Now, I’m enjoying every minute ride of that big bird. As it soars high, sunshine welcomes you over the clouds, till it lands taking you back to the earth. I know God is with me so I have nothing to worry, because I trust that He will protect me wherever I go. I miss the adventure. I can’t wait to ride that big bird again.

How could all our senses benumb to God's marvelous creations and fail to thank him for every waking moment that we could enjoy once again just how wonderful his creations are for us to see, touch, smell, hear, and taste. Get your senses awaken.
